Alder was fortunate enough to win an Open All Age Field Trial in Maine in June. There were some fine dogs at the event, but Alder really put down three positive series and was going to be tough to beat. After two series in the open grasses (except for honoring while his bracemate ran into the woods on a retrieve and flushed a turkey), we moved to the woods for the third series. It was like grouse season came early and Alder was right at home! A couple of dogs before Alder struggled on a very difficult part of the course but we got to run in a small wooded meadow and he quickly found his birds and delivered to hand…now we are off to Oregon in November for the Open National!
